a what kind of party?

                                          {goodie bags being made - small packages of kleenex,
                                          a heart tin full of mints, homemade valentine}

i think i'm finally coming to terms with the fact that i usually don't do anything "normal." this is something i have to remind myself of at least once a year.  go with flow?  nah - it's just not in my make up.  mountain man embraced this fact long ago, in fact he'd tell you it's one of the things he loves about me {at least that's what he better say! :}  the kids are still working on it...with scrunched up faces they said, "a what kind of party?"  but, don't let their initial reaction fool you, they are getting very excited about this!

so...valentine's day is coming up.  while stuck in a chair relaxing i was pondering what to do to celebrate...

yes...i love my kids and husband.  but, we share so much love everyday that i knew we needed to do something together to show honor and love to someone else. {i can't take credit...for ideas like these come from the good Lord. so technically i can blame him for my "creative" ideas :}

hence...the "honor our elders day" party was born!  we are throwing a valentine's day party to show love, honor and respect to a few of the elders in the kids' lives, maybe one day we can invite them all!! think grandparents, older aunt and uncles, pastors, elderly neighbors & friends. we're hoping our 96 year old neighbor can come!

the kids will prepare a spread of food, hearts are hung all over the living room to fill it with love, they have a bag full of giveaways ready to go {chocolate, the love dare book, calendar, nail polish...}, the girls are excited to play some music for their guests and it will just be a time to give hugs and thank the elders for all they do and to spread some of God's love!

so here goes our first anual "honor your elders party"...i'll tell ya how it goes!

"Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord."
Leviticus 19:32
