thanksgiving, oklahoma style.

we had traditional thanksgivings...two of them. they were awesome.  nothing beats spending time with the ones you love. but, our third thanksgiving was a little...uh...nontraditional?  on the wild side?

my grandma and grandpa live in the woods in a beautiful two-story log cabin.  according to trooper, it is his most favorite house.

i wonder why?

this thanksgiving included squirrel hunting {mountain mama wrestled a cat over a squirrel, i don't know what got into me}, a 4 wheeler ride, hugging a moose that hasn't made it on the wall quite yet, games of pool and foosball...and my personal favorite...

steaks!  hand cut by my grandpa.

Good times!  it's fun that a Thanksgiving celebration reflects the family...their talents, hobbies and surroundings but most important...their love for each other.

in other news, trooper recently had his outpatient surgery.  wow...am i ever glad it's over.  we are all still recovering from waking up early, the emotional stress etc.  he is so brave.  we are thanking God for a smooth procedure and recovery.

and just for fun, here are the girls.  they are getting excited about what is ahead...Christmas!  already.  where in the world does the time go?

  4. oh, so glad to hear things went well with Trooper, I've been in prayer over the little guy. Sounds like a fabulous Thanksgiving one my boys would like to have attended when 'steak' was on the menu.

Again, praise God for a recovering baby and doing well.
