scripture & snapshot

it's probably not a surprise to most that we don't celebrate halloween.  oh sure, in the past we've let the kids dress-up and visit friends and family.  but, it just doesn't feel right anymore. BUT...there are still tons of fun things to do with the kids!  if you have kids or grandkids this is a great book to help celebrate fall...the parable of the pumpkin is a great story!

  1. We did Halloween in 1978 Wendy was 2....now 30 something yrs later...we still don't do Halloween. The candy and the fun dressing was what they were going to miss...so starting October 1st thru the 31st...my candy bowl is always full...the only time of the year!!
Fun clothes were always encouraged for play anytime.
And we sit pumpkins around all Fall. But on Halloween night ...our lights are off...and thank goodness we live in the country!!

    Hang in there..you aren't alone!!

  2. Yes, we did away with Halloween in our family years ago. Instead we have a fun family night with the kids or get together with another family for a fall party.

  3. We don't do halloween either. And, we love that book as well! Such a great message in the parable.
Like your pic and verse combination! May our lights shine before all for His glory.

  5. Nice use of the light in the season to remind us of the true light.

  6. I've been struggling with this too. I mean, I like how excited my boys are about dressing up and they love trick or treating. But the ghosts, witches, graveyard scenes, ect really do bother me. Being a police officer, I've seen death and evil and those things just aren't funny or something to be celebrated. I'm not sure what we will do as they get older. For now, I just make sure their costumes aren't inappropriate and I don't let them watch any of the spooky type Halloween cartoons.

  8. No more celebrating Halloween for us. We have been Halloween free for about 4 years now.

Great scripture, perfect with the pumpkins!
