oklahoma city part I

we went with some good friends to the harn homestead in the heart of oklahoma city.  it's so in the heart that the capital can be seen from the property.

the buildings date back to the land run.  there are homes of several sizes all of which housed MANY kids.

those are the cutest pioneer kids i've ever seen!

we were so thrilled daddy could go with us!  he even packed us lunches in tin pails!

this is the inside of the one room school house.  complete with teacher and mcguffy readers...scout gapsed when she saw them.  the kids had a short lesson followed by a recess with games of the era.  after that we went to the farm where the kids used vintage machines to grind corn.

in the farmhouse after a guided tour the kids had free reign.  there were all kinds of vintage props to be played with...most parents waited outside due to the noise excitement of it all!

what a fabulous hands-on learning experience for the kids!  and thanks to our friends for making it very special!
