The Love and Respect Experience: Book Review

The Love and Respect Experience by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs~

I chose this book to do a review on because this month marks our 13th wedding anniversary.  Now more than ever our anniversary means so much to us as so many marriages are ending for various reasons.  Just the other day a recently divorced man who doesn't know us well said to mountain man, "don't worry...your marriage is next."  {too bad I wasn't there for that!}

This book is a very laid back devotional for a man and wife.  In fact, the author and his wife suggest maybe not evening reading the devotions together.  Men aren't known for wanting to do devotions and this book is a very unintimidating way for a couple to grow and learn together.  They can each read and meditate on it and later come together to discuss it.

Marriage is hard, no doubt about it.  Men and women are made differently and this book helps the reader not only realize the differences but equips you with the knowledge on how to embrace them.

It consists of 52 devotions.  They are short and to the point.  I was surprised that the cover has a look and feel of leather which makes it special and not a "normal" book.

My favorite chapter is called "It's all about me after all."  I hear so many people saying things like, "Well, our marriage isn't exciting" or "I don't get anything out of it."  You'll have to get the book to see what they have to say about that...is marriage really just for your benefit?

Overall, this is a great book and if you ever hear of a "Love and Respect" conference near you I would encourage you to go.  here is their website.

Many thanks to booksneeze for the complimentary copy in exchange for a book review.
