scripture & snapshot

i remember when the specialist told us that our middle born may have to endure a heart surgery one day for an "abnormal" heart.

and then there was the time in the bank's eye we didn't have a dollar to our name.

more recently, people have told us we've been through enough to cause a divorce. {ie relocating three times, new jobs, challenges out the wazoo.  yes, i just said wazoo.}

as you can see we have been through a few  things to cause some stress...ya know life?  does that ring a bell with anyone?

they say when things are going good in your life is the time to get the word in your heart and i think they were right!  when we were dating and then came marriage we sat in a bible believing church for 11+ years.  i didn't know it then but the word of God was being placed in my heart.  {by the way, it's never too late to start!}  that way, when tradegy or the unthinkable strikes, you are ready {after the shock wears off, of course! :}

that's not to say i don't flounder.  that i don't get full of fear, anger or lately frustration.  i've screamed, paced, cried and made bad decisions.  but, i'm so fortunate to be able to know deep in my heart what God says about our circumstances. when i choose to use it, it's there.

surgery?  we'll see!  divorce? you have another thing coming.  bills coming in?  God is awesome.

our first born received the life application study bible above {which i use and love} after she was born. it belonged to my beloved grandma, it's stamped with the name they share.  and Lord willing, they will have the same heart for God!

  1. The bible has an answer to any problem that you may ever have. All you have to do is take the time to read the bible and BELIEVE it!! God is so good. Yes, people didn't think my husband and I would still be together. With the exception of surgery, we have had pretty much the same issues you and your husband have gone through. Through the grace of God, we will be celebrating 19 years of marriage next month. Yes, God is so good. I will serve Him until I am sitting in heaven with him!

  2. God is good. You're right that sometimes, we just don't understand why our life is unfolding the way it is, but God is always in control. Thank you for sharing that in your words and snapshot.

  5. What a treasure that copy of God's Word is for your family! I pray the one I use and write in and mark up will be a testimony of God's sustaining grace in my life to whoever in my bunch ends up with it!
    Love the picture and verse too. Praise God for our anchor of hope we have in His Word!

  6. God is good...all the time! So grateful that His word never fails and for His compassion and care for us during the hard times that my husband and I should not have made it through. But, God helped us through it all!

  11. Yes I love your faith...some days I need more your your faith. I was told this week...all we have to do is commit our needs to Him, trust Him...and He does the rest....what peace comes when we do that.

  12. yes, yes and amen. It is those times spent in the Word that help me not only survive the fire, but embrace it and the refining process that God has in store during those tough times... Going thru a bit of that now myself.

    (p.s. I'm having the hardest time commenting with my google account. It makes me wonder if the problem is my computer or blogger... hmmm...)
