book review: grumble hallelujah

grumble hallelujah by Caryn Rivadeneira.

how do you remain thankful when life doesn't go as you planned?  what do you do when your expectations and dreams seem farther and farther away?  how do you cope? it okay to grieve over an idea, a possibility or a what could have been?

this book is right up my fact, it was as though someone had penned some of my very own thoughts right there in black and white.  i was constantly giggling to mountain man saying..."now she's writing about high expectations...this is crazy!"

caryn has a way of getting to the point.  she doesn't mind telling you that at times life stinks. and being a mama is hard.  and laying on your kitchen floor throwing a fit like a toddler?  don't worry, she's been there!   but, how do you find God in all of that?  how do you find peace and lasting joy?

in this book you are challenged to lay it all down...everything that has disappointed you...every single thing that is holding you back from being who you are truly meant to be.  here's a list of some of the chapters:

*live broken
*live unstuck
*live mightily
*live naked
*live salty and shiny

{don't they sound great?}

i know first hand how happiness can be found while not meeting the world's standard of happiness.  i know how it feels to grieve the "what ifs" in life. and i'm very excited to know there is someone else in the world who shares my point of views...things i thought only made sense in my own head!

in fact, i couldn't help it...i emailed the author and guess what?  she wrote back!  we have big plans to meet over cookies and tea when she gets a speaking engagement in OK {we are praying for that!}.  because in sharing your struggles and heartache with others you can't help but gain love and friendship.

loved the book! already passed it on to a friend! i think anyone who's earth has been shaken would thoroughly enjoy it too! {yes, that means everyone!}
